There is some confusion about whether GAIA Flooring is waterproof. The answer is both yes and no.
All GAIA flooring products are waterproof concerning topical spills; no liquid will penetrate the top layer of any GAIA flooring products. However, if water or other liquids are left standing on your GAIA floor for extended periods, the liquid can seep between the planks, potentially damaging the locking mechanisms or the plank's core.
Waterproof Top Layer: SPC flooring typically has a waterproof top layer, meaning that liquids spilled on the surface will not penetrate and damage the floor from above. This makes it suitable for areas prone to spills, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Seeping Between Planks: While the top layer is waterproof, standing water or prolonged exposure to liquids can seep between the planks. This can potentially damage the locking mechanisms or the core of the planks. Although SPC flooring is more resistant to water compared to traditional wood or laminate flooring, it is not entirely immune to damage from prolonged exposure to moisture.
